First 4runner, first of many questions

Just bought my first Toyota...a '94 4runner. I enjoy reading the posts here and have learned a bunch already.

Although I've got a bit of basic maintenance and minor things to patch up, the rig in general is in good shape. I've found a few Toyota parts vendors on the internet that I'll be contacting for other things but I'm unable to find some minor interior items that I need. First and foremost are bolts to anchor my rear seat. They're gone and I have nothing else to compare or tell me what size or style I need. Where can I find that info. and, secondly, what vendor can supply that type of fastener for me? I considered a wrecking yard but wanted to check for new parts first.

Thanks in advance.

How about any hardware store? No help on the size though. When I put my back seats in, I just found a bolt that was the same thread and brought it to the store to match.

This is my first Toyota and my spare parts bins are seriously lacking in metric pieces. I have nothing to compare it to. If I knew at least what size/pitch the threads were I'm sure I could make some hardware store fasteners work. Maybe a trip to the wrecking yard is in order after all.

Almost all the bolts on our 2nd gen 4runners are 8x1.25mm, 10x1.25mm, or 12x1.25mm, with different lengths.

Head to Lowes..... No, I'm not a Home Depot hater, just, well, plain and simple, .... Lowes has much more to offer in the "Automotive" dept. You don't necessarily NEED "Automotive" bolts, but they have a good selection of whatever you might need. You can find them in J-yards as well, cheap, and if you just go to the counter at an import yard, ask them if you could 'match up' some bolts to your interior... You'd be in like flynn in no time. You don't need new bolts, and while the ones at Lowe's are cheap.... the yards are much cheaper, ya know?

I probably have 3 sets of them... but shipping would kill ya, lol.

Best wishes, and Welcome to Yotatech!

Lowe's has more metric bolts for our vehicles than you will ever need.

89, yards in L.A. are FULL of interiors for your year, my year(87) and many others to boot. Craigslist is never overflowing with 'part out' rigs, .... but there's a few up there from time to time. Start a thread and post a link here, I'm sure people will chime in with help on what's available aftermarket and what's not. I found completely intact rear panels w/pockets(SR5 rear seat panels have pockets next to the retractable seatbelts, pretty good size, too)... 30$ for both sides with rear-most storage doors and all, speaker holes NOT cut out, etc....and gray, to boot! WOOT! lol.... PICK-U-PART ROCKS! BUT.... you have to stop by there for a STRETCH til you actually find what you need.... most often.

You could start here for SOME of it.......
