sorry darlin, washington has super loose smog compared to cali. I'm learning cali smog to get my smog license. prob can get away without it if they don't do a visual (don't hold that to me)

idk about the 400+k cat out there but if you maintain it perfectly (strictly follow the maintenance schedule from the manufacturer) you can get it to last a lot longer.

Agreed cats can last a lot longer if you take care of them. But let's face it most of us, myself included, are not going to care about that silly little cat thingy back there.

And as far as I'm concerned if you pass smog standards then why does it matter what is hooked up or not.

well in cali the visual is what most people fail these days. My boyfriend's brother fails people all day with missing hoses broken/worn out, way before the smog machine can. usually the machine agrees that it can't pass but theres other factors to it.
