Ecu Problem

Ecu Problem
New to this site but looking for some help from someone with experience. So I have a 06 4Runner sr5. I scanned it the other day before scheduling my inspection. It threw several codes with exhaust inefficiency and 02 sensors. It also said the ecu was bad. I believe the ecu is the reason it is throwing all of these codes. How would you guys recommend fixing this and what type of cost am I looking at? I need to get this fixed soon so I can pass inspection!

Find out for sure just what it wrong !!!Used ECM
Rebuilt ECM
Or as a last resort New
If that is indeed what the problem is
No Matter how many times the codes have been cleared they continue to trip the MIL even before the test cycle has run???

Wyoming9,
I am sure there is something wrong with the ECU. I have cleared the codes several times but they continue to come back along with the ECU code.
However I did replace the cats and 02 sensors last year to get them to go away so I'm pretty sure that they aren't bad which is why I believe its the ECU.

However, it can happen. You can find a rebuilt ECM for about $300 or so. I would recommend checking the codes that the computer is creating. If the codes are nonexistent issues, then it might be the ECM.

It is throwing several codes that I know are incorrect. For instance it is saying that the O2 sensors are malfunctioning when I replaced them recently and just tested them... They are fine. I have enough reason to believe they are bad. Believe I have found a replacement ecm. Has anybody ever replaced one or know if it can be done without taking it to the dealer. I know most cars have to be reprogrammed and have software updates.

Do you know if the one you have now got wet??To replace just remove the old one plug in the next one.
Remember to disconnect the negative battery cable just to be safe
The part # should be the same.
I hope this cures your problem
