Dumb Question - idler and pitman arm

So uhh.. this is a pretty dumb question, but I need to know. I've searched around and even looked at online parts stores to try and figure it out - but no dice. I'm taking my 4Runner in to get the steering rod recall done, and I'm going to have my pitman and idler arm replaced at the same time - only I don't wanna pay the stealership's price for the parts; so I'm going to bring in my own aftermarket... just one problem...

How many pitman arms and how many idler arms does my truck have?

I have read that I only have one of each, but I think I see two idler arms under the truck - and I don't have any idea about the pitman arms. I know, I know - dumb question.. but I want to order the parts and I don't know if I need one of each or two of each. So is there one on each side?

Thanks guys.

You have one idler arm and one pitman arm, the pitman arm connects the steering box, the idler bolts to the frame on the passenger side frame rail, i dont know what you could be confusing for a second idler arm. I would suggest sourcing brass idler arm bushings because these things are known to crap out, there is a seller on ebay that sells idler/pitman arm the sets for cheap.

One pitman. But check into rebuilding/new bushings. Those parts are expensive. Have you checked into a wholesale account at a Toyota dealership? I got one in 1995 or so but I think you could still find them advertised on the internet.

Hey, thanks guys. I've found www.rockauto.com and they have pitman and idler arms for a pretty good price - I think I'm just gonna get those. I did find a custom fab guy online that has the brass bushings. I'll look into that.

Thanks again.

Just know that when you buy an off brand (usually Chinese) part, the quality is almost never there.
I would suggest trying to find the best deal on a Toyota factory part.

I have heard that - thanks. I know, it's true with everything. Cheap parts are - cheap parts. Are the cheap ones usually non-greasable? Are they supposed to have zerk fittings?
