dual case direction needed

i'm looking in to doing dual transfer cases on my 84 toyota pickup build. i'm really looking for any help on how to go at this and the pro's and con's of this. i know i have to have my drive shafts lenghted/shortened but not sure how to figure out how much....? i also know only one of them will engage the 4wd but which one and how will the other one work? any and all info will be GREATLY APPRECIATED. a link provided to look at would also be great if you know of one

the pros are a super low range, stronger, the cons are the cost of it really, dual skid plate, case, adapter, gears, if im correct there is not shortening the driveshafts, just prepare to kill your wallet

you have to shorten you rear drive shaft because the second case is now closer and you have to lengthen your front to reach the farther back case i know for sure.......

it adds about 6.5" to your transfer case legnth. So you rear shaft needs to be about 6.5" shorter. And the front 6.5" longer

ok, thanks. nothingbetter i see in your sig that you have close to the set up that i wanna build and i'm still trying to decide on the daul cases.... besides the dual cases on your rig with the 6" lift you have what did you have to do to you drive shafts if you don't mind???

You take your old dshaft to a dshaft shop and measure tcase flange to diff flange and give them the distance. It's not hard to do.

I think if you'll read some build threads and do a little searching you'll find a Toyota you like and then you can gauge your build on theirs.

I'd make sure my new 84 was mechanically solid before starting the mods.
