Driver side and Rear gate won't open

Ok, so here goes. I have a 98 4runner 5 speed with 4 wheel drive and a 4 cylinder engine. I love the car, but since I bought it, the driver side door won't unlock with the key I was given (only had one key) and sometimes the rear gate/ door won't open. In fact during the last week, the rear door/ gate won't open at all. I pull up on the handle and nothing happens. And no the car is not locked. I used to have to pull up and to the right to get it to work, but now nothing...so my questions are...
1. what is wrong with the back door? can i fix it? how much to get fixed?
2. what is wrong with the driver side door? can i fix it? is it the lock tumbler? how much to get fixed?

thanks.

Hello and welcome!
1. The linkage made need lubricating or has become disconnected. From inside, remove plastic panel to investigate further.
2. This lock may have been replaced at one time and you don't have the key?

alright, thanks. will check that out this afternoon, do you mean the linkage for the back door?
and about the driver side door. I have no idea if the lock would have been changed...i have a feeling that it is broken...i can stick my key in, but it does not turn left or right...what does that mean? thanks again.

well, do what he said and take it apart and see what is going around in there.

Not sure if it is not moving at all, but i bought some lock-ease graphite lube, and that freed up my locks quite a bit.

Not sure about the rear
