do i need a coil spring compressor

I have a 2inch old man emu suspension lift for my 03 toyota tacoma that im about to install, before i start i was wondering if i need to compress the front springs somewhere in the process to put in the new ones. Any ideas.

them ome coils are stiff and are gonna be a bear with one of those cheapo tools best bet is to take your factory struts off to reuse the top plate and bring it to a shop .... do not touch the middle nut !!!!

Done it. Take it to a shop. I had a cheap spring compressor tool.....the kind with the threaded rod and the hooks at each end. The torque required to compress the spring stripped the threads on the rod............I had a mess on my hands.

Elton is right - take the whole assembly to a shop and have them do it, it shouldn't be very expensive.
