Crooked compression fitting on fuel line

My fuel pump went failing on my '98 4runner, in order to drop the tank I needed to cut the line going into the fuel filter as the fittings were so stuck that I was rounding the nuts with a flare wrench.

I've never used a compression fitting before - I was wondering if someone could let me know if the fact that the fitting is not on square will be an issue. Sorry for the flash in the pic. Thanks for the help!

If it leaks that's the issue. May be able to bend the lines to make them align...

It looks like it's on there square and someone bent the line.

you need a wrench on the center of the fitting and on the side you are trying to loosen.
only attempt to twist the side you want to loosen, not the center 'nut'

Are you using a line wrench?
