Crooked Bed 2011 Tacoma
Hi, new to the forum but not Toyota.
I bought a 2011 Tacoma this past February. It's great! 4x4, Double cab, long bed, non TRD SR-5. The bed sits crooked to the left(driver side) 3/4" to 7/8" low depending on the amount of gas. I have had it at the dealer where they told me it was "to spec." I asked what "spec" was and they said 1/2" and said my truck was aligned properly. I replied that alignment felt fine while driving and was more concerned that the truck sat crooked visually and that even if the tolerance was 1/2", it was still out 1/4" according to my measurements.
The first time I took it in, the tech said it was nothing and told me to look at my truck with my head tilted and standing sideways and then you could hardly tell. This was unacceptable. It was late and I didn't have time so waited to talk to SM. On a seperate visit, the SM agreed that the back left corner of the bed was much lower than the back right corner. We "re-measured" it. His first time measuring it and my at least 20th time measuring it. We both measured 3/4" lower on the driver side rear bed corner. This measurement is from the "bedrail" to the ground and with the vehicle unloaded with varying amounts of gas. Also, we measured from the bumper to the ground and got the same results.
They said it was nothing but "shimmed" the bed to resolve the matter. However, I asked a service manager what the spec was for the actual bed of the vehicle and he did not know and said he would find out. I have never heard back. IMO, it should be level. My '84 p/u was. My '86 p/u was. My '98 tacoma was. My '09 tacoma was. My '11 tacoma was not, but has been shimmed to appear that it is level.
I am pretty happy with the dealer as they have reported to me that Toyota says nothing is wrong(despite not knowing or finding out the actual tolerance for the physical position of the bed side to side) and that they have gone above and beyond to fix "not a problem" and that I should live with it because Toyota won't do anything. I don't want to be a burden to the dealer, but I also want to understand what is going on with my new truck.
The truck is stock with the four pack leaf spring upgrade because the truck originally blew through all rear travel VERY easily with zero load and one adult (140lb.) as the driver.
My Tacoma is used lightly, to haul bicycles and up to four average size adults. No wheeling. All service has been performed by the dealer who I bought the truck from.
Anyone else experience this or have any advice or information on this topic?
Thanks.

Your gas tank, front diff, transfer case drop, and front drive shaft are all on the drivers side. All Tacomas lean to the drivers side.
Get a set of adjustable coilovers if it really bothers you that much.

Thanks for the replies.
I originally thought suspension, and that is still the most likely suspect to me. The dealership has firmly asserted this is not the case even though the odd aesthetic became noticeable after the four pack upgrade.
It is as if the back left corner of the bed is molasses and is slowly drooping over time. The front of the bed is square with the back window.
