Computer Issue?

OK Guys,

Need your help again. Trying to start my 88 pickup for the first time since I got it all back together from a complete rebuild. I pulled all the plugs trying to crank it over a few times to maybe get some oil moved around before i try to fire it. Some say that helps, some disagree but that aint the point i guess...............

What's happening is................Of course the battery is dead, so I have jumper cables hooked up to another rig. When I turn the key, just a click from the area inside the cab, passenger side, behind the dash, above the computer...........help me please.

PS...i know the starter is good

Thanks

All fuses ok, EFI fuse etc? Engine grounds clean and connected? All electrical connections clean and firmly plugged in?

I believe so. When I bought the truck, I tried to start it knowing the motor was bad and the starter engaged the flywheel. Of course the flywheel did not move at all since the crank was seized up. That was 3 weeks ago. I didn't change anything.

found the connection point ant plugged it in. Still just getting a click when I try to start the truck. Click is coming from the ECU area. Anyone with some tips as to why it is not even getting power to the starter?

KatKrazy, what was the fix? I see from your other post that you are up and running.

The click is normal, it is from the circuit opening relay that sits above the ECU. Reason you hear it is likely because the starter is not running (it makes lots of noise and masks the CO relay click). See below for a test and fix for the no-start issue:

Yup.........needed a new starter. So simple it makes me mad and embarrased. Installed a new starter, new battery, fired it up.

Don't be mad or embarassed....be thankful it was something relatively easy.
