So I just picked up a 1991 4runner v6 5spd 4x4. Guy couldn’t get it started and sold it cheap. So I found that the afm went bad and replaced it. But then I went to fix the timing and it just wouldn’t run right. Every time I touch the gas it would immediately bog down and shut off. If I really gently and slowly touched the gas I could get it to rev up. I thought this might be the TPS so I replaced that too. But now I have CEL 31 and I know that it’s related to the AFM but why am I getting these problems with new parts? Right now it starts and then dies. If I start it with gas it revs up and will stay on longer. Any ideas?
