Clutch types
I'm currently in the process of ordering a clutch assembly (clutch disc, pressure plate, flywheel, and bearings) for my 87 toyota pickup 22re. It currently has a automatic trans and I'm converting it to a W56 manual trans out of a 90 pickup. I've noticed that there are two types. One for 84 to 88 and the other for 89 to 95. If all of these years had a 22re then what differences are in the two assemblies? Can I use a 89 to 95 in my 87 22re and 90 trans and be okay? Thanks

The earlier w56 uses a different style of throw-out bearing hub and springs that connect the clutch fork to the hub than the later ones do. So, for your application, I'd think you're correct that you'd want to use the later 89-95 model clutch for a 1990 w56.
