Clutch Replace

Clutch is starting to give out and was thinking on buying a stock clutch because i do not wheel often and this is my dd. Could i get a link to find a good stock replacement. I have searched this and hear that i should get a genuine toyota clutch but am not sure where and what to get.

I would try a local parts store and see what they have available. Also ask what kid of warrantees come with the parts you would like to purchase.
I would recomend looking for a new unit as opposed to a rebuilt unit, just for quality reasons. Some people do not have any problems running a rebuilt unit, but based on my own experience, I prefer a new unit.

I went to the local advanced auto, and they had a clutch by Performance for about $100. Autozone had one by Dura-something that was also about $100. Not sure about the warranty though.

were the items they quoted new or rebuilt?
Were they complete kits with disc, flex plate, release bearing and pilot tool?
call them back and ask about warrantee...

don't forget about pilot bearing.

Also, turn down/replace flywheel and think about input seal for tranny and rear main for engine.

Do a google search on LUK clutches. It seems like people on this site and others think highly of them. That's what I just put in my truck for the same reason. No hardcore wheeling for me, it's my dd, but will be out on 4x4 roads so I wanted something good. I think I read that LUK is one of two companies that Toyota uses to supply their clutches, so it is OEM. Do a search though, I could be making that up. Either way, I only heard good things about them, and they come as a complete kit: Clutch pressure plate, cover, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, adjustment tool and grease.

AISIN--i am pretty sure is the OEM--

but it is true--you get what you pay for. Parts guys are always annoyed at me because i dont like buying auto-crap or advance-crap

I went with a Downey Clutch and it feels nice--but most people on here recommend the Marlin Clutch

Remember trannies are not as easy as plugs--do it right once and drive for 150k miles. doctors orders

Well, Aisin is OEM, but many parts are contracted out to other parts companies. I just remember reading somewhere that depending on current price, they sometimes go with one or another company. Like I said, I could be wrong, though. Either way, LUK seems to have a really good reputation. I actually assumed Marlins clutch was a bit pricier than it actaully is, but I just looked at it again. For under $200, why not? I think my LUK clutch was $120 or somewhere in there, and you can get a Marlin clutch for $179-200, so unless that much more money could break the bank....
