clutch alignment tool

hey all, I bought a clutch kit but it didnt come with an alignment tool. I thought it would be easy to find one but I cant. can I just make something up that will center in the pilot bearing, and hold the disc, or are the teeth essential. Any pointers would be great. Thanks

You can buy a universal one, like this

If you have a Princess Auto near you they have them cheap.

If you have an old/bad trans laying around, you can use the input shaft as an alignment tool.

How do I get the input shaft out of my junk trans? And if I use that as an alignment tool, can I then put it back together?

To get the input shaft off of a junk trans you split the case and remove the input shaft...

If you disassemble the trans using the FSM method - yes - you can reassemble the trans.

But by definition is a JUNK trans so yer not rally planning to salvage the "junk" trans are ya?

Almost every clutch kit I have ever gotten comes with the alignment tool.

I think I have a freakin drawer full of em.
(I helped alot of friends do em and they gave me the alignment tool since I dont drink beer....gee I bring over tools, SSTs, a Lincoln Hydrulic Tranny Jack, know how and all I get is some bad pizza and a alignment tool (and usually a flywheel - but I usually lend em one from my stash so its not like I get anything))

PM me if the OP still needs the alignment tool
