Check Engine Light

Check Engine Light
ok, so here is the deal. yesterday i was driving to philly to pick up the girl friend. drive about 3/4 the way there and get into the city and all of the sudden the check engine light pops on...what the hell?
a little background. it is a 98 4runner, 5 speed, 4 cylinder with about 104,000 miles on it. i just accidentally over filled the oil in the engine by about a quarter of a quart, car was on a hill and i was spacing out and couldn't figure out why it wasn't showing filled, then realized it was on a hill. oops. ok. so oil is a little high. then i fill the car with 89 instead of 87 unleaded. did that purposely, i am trying to figure out if different types of gasoline get better gas mileage...
and one other thing. driving down the cruise control was working. it is located on the steering column. and then when i drove back, no cruise control...
so can the check engine light pop on because the cruise control is broken?? thanks guys.
ps. anyone know how much to fix this or get cruise control fixed if that is the reason the light popped on? and if it isn't the reason, does this year 4runner have some sort of check engine light when it reaches 105000 miles? or anything like that?

I would look into pulling the code. That way you know for sure what its doin. My guess is an O2 sensor. Take it to an autozone and they will pull the codes for free. Then post up and we'll go from there!
I also doubt the cruise caused the CEL, and theres no 105K CEL.
