I am building a 1989 4runner 2 door up from scratch. have $500 to play around with, i know that if you remove the headlight switch wiring and wire it into a relay, that makes your headlights brighter. and that you can take chevy leafs and flip the frame mounts for a lift. but what other random/cool tricks are floating around here? i have the the 3.slo by the way. any cheap performance mods u know?

 

I think you have your information wrong, You don`t remove the head light switch wiring, there is a wiring harness with relays that you can add that helps boost the voltage going to the head lights. Check out 4crawlers web site, he has a write up on how to do it. When you add chevy springs you don`t flip any of the frame mounts for a lift, you need to buy a shackle and hanger kit, cut off the mounts for the stock springs and welld the mounts on for the chevy springs.

cant weild the diffs. guna be a dailey driver. and i need to find a way to get my trucky lifted cus my rear leafs are flat. i live in bc and wana keep it legal

 

lockrite rear? zuk mod, and semi aggressive treads.
Lifts shouldn't be the first priority.

you don't understand though... my rear leafs are flat, the whole truck sags. hahaha. need a legal way to bring back up to stock height to match front. will get resprung if need be. but any other chearper ways would be nice too

 

You could always pull some stock ones from a junk yard that aren't.
But the chevy springs will lift the rear end a good 3-4 inches over stock?
and then you will have a problem leveling the front unless your gonna
use a bracket lift or BJ spacers?

rofl wheel spacers aren't going to do ANYTHING to lift your truck bahahahaha

if you go with 63" chevy springs in the rear, then you'll want a bracket lift up front.

a bracket lift in the front, with 63's in the rear will be almost perfectly matched, should be a TAD high in the rear.

were getting out of the $500 range with just the bracket lift.
and i don't know why the wheel spacers are necessary?
How about we just buy a $500 k5 blazer and swap everything on to the frame?

i was saying. if cranking tortions 4 inches was an option. the front wheel base would be shorter due to the SLA function found in IFS. but i know tortions only lift 2 inches and no more

 

We've all been there. and i myself know oh too well about the cruelty of some members on here.

yeah. i dont remember seeing one dedicated to little tricks and cool things you can do. like, did you know the fuel pump can be accessed by lifting up the rear passenger seat and unscrewing the panel. saves a load of time
