Cel p0440

The wife got a CEL in her '03 corolla. Went to Autozone, got the P0440. Print out reads:

Definition
Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge flow

Probable cause
Leak in EVAP system
Blocked EVAP purge line
Faulty purge VSV

Does anyone have a manual on this car? And what is a VSV(guessing that is some kind of valve). Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction, or give me run down on the EVAP system.

VSV is a vacuum switching valve. Basically, when vacuum is applied to it, the valve changes position (either opens or closes... depending on the type of valve).

My 2001 is also throwing out a P0440 code. Gas cap replaced but I really dont want to mess with troubleshooting. Does anyone know how to bypass the system so the CEL doesn't come on and I can pass emissions? I know that sometimes resistors can be put in place of a sensor to trick the ecu. I would like to do something like this so I never have to worry about the evap system again.
