carburator

Hi, looking for help. I recently purchased a 1989 Toyota pick up R22 carbureted. when you start it idles very high. After a while it reduces to a more acceptable idle level however then it dies if I don’t keep the foot on the gas pedal? I had the carburetor rebuild, changed the fuel pump, gas filter, plugs and wires and changed the vacuum lines but I cant figure it out . Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Confirm the EGR valve is not stuck open. It can create a large internal vacuum leak.

Did you do this before or after this issue of the engine dying?
