Can I swap 16' brake drums from a '07 tacoma onto my '91?
My '91 4wd pickup needs new rear brake drums- they're worn AND rusty. I have an option on 16'' drums from an '07 Tacoma with only 10'000 miles on them.
Are they compatible?
PS This is my first time working on drum brakes so please forgive any ignorance on my part

I would think you would need new backing plates to anchor your new bigger brakes with new hardware and wheel cylinders so your new bigger brake drums fit over.
I have no idea if the axles would need to be changed or not.
But till you get done with time and running around getting the extra parts you forgot you need make it all work
Just buy two new drums you will come out ahead.
Not to mention now having to different size wheels front and back

Rebuild the stock drums unless you are going for increased braking performance, in which case I'd recommend the disc conversion. Drum rebuilds are cheap and easy, just leave one side together for a reference point when reassembling.
