bye bye Extra Cab....

My baby pickup is gone..sold it to my old friend! now he can build up his own project...now i have a cash to buy a 4Runner...start a new project but im looking for one....which is better IFS or Solid Axle? i just want daily driven, make it for looks, going out on trip, camping at beach & forest, snowboarding, etc many things i like outgoing...any ideas? my plans for 4" lift suspension with 3" body lift with 35" swampers oh...too clean! and maybe 4.88 gears or 5.29 gears i heard 4.88 is good for daily driven....5.29 is too hard and loud! also im thinking towing winch in case of hard headache and lonely...more plans to go but im shopping for 4runner 1984-1987...haha!google for parts!

I dont have much experience with the solid axle, but the IFS will work for what you are wanting to use it for on an everyday us and most will tell you a smoother ride.

The lift you are wanting and tire size you may want the solid axle. 86-89 will give you a wider choice of 4Runners. Just curious why you arent intrested in the 88-89? The solid axle will limit you to 2 years 84-85.

Probably wasnt a whole lot help but give you a little more info.

DD -mall crawler stay with IFS.
whoever said 5.29's and 35's were too loud...wrong anwer. the 5.29's will keep the rpms in the correct range, especially on a Daily driver.

I have never had any problems with my IFS. If you want to crawl then I hear there are more options with the solid axle. I have never had a problem getting to where I wanted to go in the mud or snow with the IFS.
