Buying: What To Look For..?
Hello all,
I'm looking to purchase my first 4x4 Toyota Pickup and was wondering what critical things to look for and what price I am looking at?
The pickup in question is a '90 Standard Cab 4x4 with the 22re and 5 speed. 155,000 miles. Chain done at ~110,000. Original owner. Recent brake and suspension work. It still is on the original clutch, but doesn't slip and will need a pair of new tires soon.
For being a Michigan truck, it's pretty clean with almost no rust. He said he had it re-rustproofed shortly after he bought it since the dealer didn't do a quality job. Frame seems solid, although I'm not too sure where they're prone to fail?
I haven't driven it yet, only looked at it shortly one afternoon. I told him I'd only like to spend around $2k, maybe $2.5k tops on one. Am I offbase? Any pointers?

Check the frame right around the front spring hangers on the rear axle. That's one of the biggest trouble spots for rust. Other than that just look over it real well. 2000-2500 sounds like a fair price for a truck that year.
