Buying a 1st gen and need advice

Hi everyone, I have been looking at the 1st gen 4runners for awhile now and think I am ready to get one. My two previous vehicles have been a lowered Chevy truck and lowered 2dr tahoe. While I love my tahoe, I really don't have the desire nor money to make it the show winner I had planned. I am now ready to be higher up, and the 4runner seemed like a great choice. I have already checked a lot of threads about things to look for and I am going to be checking out this '87 soon and wanted to see what everyone thought about it. I would ideally like to get a slight lift to potentially fit some 33" tires and black rockcrawlers(those are sweet). Do you guys think this price is reasonable?
1987 4runner I'm not gonna be doing any hardcore offroading, yet. Just looking for an economical DD that can do more than the average vehicle. Also, what's your opinion on the can-back for these? It looks sweet, but is damn expensive. I would like to have the top off in the summer but have something that's easier to take on and off in case of bad weather. Thanks for any advice.

Just lookin at that, I'd say if you can get em' down 500 or so you might be on to somethin. You can fit 33x10.50s with no lift...although It would be good to do BJ spacers and extended shackels or somethin in the back. It might take some getting used to, and don't expect it to be completely trouble free as old as it is, but once you've had one a while, you're hooked. Good luck on finding a truck, and welcome to the board.
