Brakeline bracket

As I'm prepping for a brake job on my 90' 4runner 22re, I decided to pre soak everything with some penetrating oil. I noticed that there's a bracket holding up the brake line where it goes from rubber to steel. Is there a way to remove it without disconnecting the brake line or will I have to cut it out?

The bottom of that bracket is a clip that holds the hard line tight to the bracket. The top has a circlip which holds the hose fitting to the bracket. Once you get the clips out you can move the brake cylinders with less fear of bending the hard line, or you can disconnect the brakes from the softline and bleed the brakes when the job is complete.

Might be a good idea to replace the rubber and hard line if your changing pads

As rusted as that hard line looks

I agree with wyoming9. Since your going to be in that area, might as well replace the lines if you think they need attention. Also, If your year 4runner also has the guide pins for the calipers, i would buy new guide pins just to have near by in case those are seized on. That way if you have to cut them off, you have new ones to install. Use anti-seize on them also when re-installing them. Mine were rusted on and wouldn't budge when trying to knock them out.

I'm in the rust belt so everything on an old vehicle is rusted lol The pads I ordered didn't come with hardware so I'll have to re order them :p The guide pins looked pretty rusted in place but I got them to budge with some penetrating oil and some love taps atleast!

Hopefully the circlip comes off easy too.

Living there as well I have learned just have everything you need to replace everything .

The liquid brine just makes it worse.
