Carnage is closed, left hand is a dirt road mostly, you should be fine. I hear it gets a little hairy with the snow and all...

I can't decide between AK and CO ...

It seems like CO is just like Alaska but milder in the cold area. That true?

Thread hi-jack btw, since he already had his question answered.

It'll get -40 below in middle of anchorage

I just want to live somewhere and have diverse weather, hot in summer, freezing and snowy in winter....

cities with malls and population for the wife and be able to drive 10-20 minutes outside of town and find spectacular views and trails.

Colorado is my home, and it's beautiful. However I do live in the mountains, I only go to the city for concerts.

Fireman's is closed too (and wouldn't be fun in an open/open rig - it was tough in a locked/locked rig!)

There are a BUNCH of trails up there though - post up on www.cottora.org and I'm sure people will be happy to show you around!
