Hello I have a 96 extra cab t100 3.4 4x4, 304xxx miles and the head gasket went out last night. I have coolant dripping out of my exhaust now, and a good steady stream of white smoke. I need to be able to drop the kids off and get to work, so I help a little help deciding which route to go.
Do I just change out the head gaskets in the driveway or do I get a used motor and put that in there, what do you guy think I should do?
Me and my wiife can work out transportation for a little but I need my truck back asap

304 thousand is substantial mileage to do nothing but a gasket job .Fact is, you cannot know for sure that you don't have a cracked head, or heads that require resurfacing or other valve work.
I picked up an engine out of a 01 4Runner with a smashed back end and a gasket set to freshen it up a little. I just did the timing belt and water pump on my old engine 6000-9000 miles ago, do you think I could reuse that without issues?
Valve cover, intake, and oil pan gasket. And then threw it in and destroyed my transmission in the process. And still don’t have reverse in my new trans
