Hard to tell, but, you can see it on the ground throughout the day. I had a new cyclinder head installed, had this problem before the new cyclinder, and it still continues. Could it have anything to do with the catalyc converter? Thanks

Could be the rings, the motor has 315000 mile on it, maybe an additive in the oil would help?? What do you think....

oil additive might.....

but snake oils rarely fix a problem....if your rings are getting blowby, the thing to do is drive it till its bad enough to warrant repair (when the cost of the oil you are losing is more than the repair) and then do a rebuild on the bottom end.

Generally, not always, but just generally, white smoke either oil being burnt or coolant. Black smoke is, generally, fuel, running too rich.

If the possible cause is fuel being too rich, what would cause that to happen? Thanks

I highly doubt it. If it is running rich, it may be running hot, or may be running rough, not idling smooth, not reving right, etc. There are any number of things that are signs of running rich, one of the most obvious is black smoke out the tailpipe, and check engine light. Is the check engine light on?
