Best way to protect mint bench seats?

Sorry for the stupid question. My '87 4x4 dlx interior is fantastic. A real time capsule, so I'm trying to protect it as best I can. Unfortunately, at the same time I am going to drive the heck out of it.

I've noticed that when I pop up from the bench seat that it is now starting to stretch a little. I have to smooth out where I was sitting, as it wrinkles. I'm imagining this turning into rips and tears etc, which would suck. This is the original bench.

Do seat covers help with this, or are those only for stains? It seems like the old bench would still take weight with them... should I sit on something like a board or the beaded things? I dunno, just wanna keep my rig nice. Thx for any help.

You want to really keep it in good condition??

take it out put it in the house and get another seat for your every day use.

i know Custom Car show people that do this and only install the original seats for car shows.

Me I think it is a little crazy but if it works for you go for it

I have recently re upholstered my bench and I worry about the same thing, I just bought a gray towel and double folded it, not much else you can really do besides get an old school seat cover, the problem is none of the covers fit they are universal without the headrests so they fit like poop. OCD sucks I tell ya what I do feel your pain, well that's what I suffer from anyway

A seat cover isn't going to do anything but keep the original clean.
It's still going to wrinkle and contort from getting in & out of the rig.
That's just the way it is. Wear and tear.
I agree with Wyoming if you want to go to those extremes.
My front drivers seat started to fray and wear from getting in and out.
I got some thread from an upholstery shop and fixed it.
Can't even notice and I'm pretty anal also.
Enjoy your rig its going to show some wear.
