Any tire that size is going to kill your MPG, so that's out...

As for the "best" tire, I can tell you I put a set of 30 BFG AT's on my bone stock, much loved 91 reg cab 22RE 4x4 and went from 400 miles a tank, to 300! YIKES!

Looking back, if I would of just got a locker I could have run any tread tire I wanted to b/c it would still have more traction than running open diffs.

But you've got a lift, want 31's or 32's and have stock gears...

To that I say; Depends on what you want to do with it?

You want max off road? Or MPG?

Don't you mean, "I want my cake, and to eat it too"?

Just how big a tire you reckon 112 hp can move before it's "gutless"?

.........im sure you have a length converter on your phone. the question is are you 4cyl or v6. auto or standard. those play a role in determining what you are geared and what limbs you can step out on with stock applications.

nope. looks good though. all i am asking is would it be wise to run 33" tires with a 2 inch lift. would it rob a ton of power. i dont care about mileage for the amount i use it.

No. 33/10.50's would be tons better...

Sure it will. Your truck was made to turn 28" tall tires, at a 4:11 gear.

With 33's you have an effective gear ratio of 3:61.

And that's w/o the added physics of wind and rolling resistance, and the added weight of the larger tires.

So, back to 112 hp...

Your engine was made to go a long time. Not have power to turn over huge tires.

Running bigger tires will decrease its life expectancy.

Lift has zero affect on your rig's ability to turn 31's or 33's - it's all about gearing.

There is a vast amount of knowledge on this board from people that have asked the same questions you are asking.

Have you tried searching for this yet?

reagear and run 33s.

Or throw some 31s on it and drive it even though it will be a little gutless.

There is a gearing link in my sig, read that.

i run 35s on 4.10s. 4banger 5spd. its my DD and i drive about 160mi in 3 days fro work, plus drive to school and the store etc. take it from someone who knows, its not that bad. most of the people on here that talk about how slow your truck is gonna be with x size tire have 0 experience with it. personally, i would rather run 35s then 33s on stock gears. heres why- when i had 33s, on the interstate, it would bogg down really low in 5th gear, but 4th gear would make it run to high on the RPMs. with 35s, 4th gear is perfect for 70-75. i also have a rebult motor so that helps some but still. it had 31s when i first bought it and i didnt think it was gutless. i got 20MPG city about 25HW. and yes that was hand calculated im not sure how accurate it is. so lets not start on the "your lyin you didnt get that mleage debate."

but if you want 31s, get em. yes youll notice it, but its not that bad.

But do you have any experience with running the "correct" gearing?

My 4runner (4.10) on 33s sucked pretty bad, 31s arnt to bad. But i would love a set of 4.56s or 4.88s.
I have been for a ride in (and driven) BirdBrains 3.0 4runner with 31s and 4.88s.
FREAKIN AWESOME! I cant even imagine 35s on my motor and gearing. My 4runner would commit suicide.
