Hi everyone ive searched up and down in this forum lots of good info, but in the end i see alot of reccomendations but im left confused. i wanted to start this post to see what everyone is running on thier stock 4runners. ive got a broken coil in the rear and my front shocks are like a carnival ride up front. just want to get some opinions on stock ifs shocks replacement parts. i was thinking about getting the lc coils but then my ass will be sticking up in the rear and i know i will want to then upgrade to the bj's up front to even it out. but in the end im on a tight budget and rather just go stock. since i only offroad maybey 4 5 times a year. it is my dd. ive read about the procomp's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-Pro...ht_2958wt_1165

but then im not sure what to buy for stock height. im looking to spend like $150 for shocks.

I don't know what shocks to use on a stock runner either and Ive been going back and forth about whether or not to wait til I lift to change shocks. But my ride quality sux ballz too. BTW I think u mean LC coils not FJ coils right? If you don't want any lift, get a stock spring from the junk yard. Probably want to get a pair, and keep your good one incase you break another one. Just my $.o2

Hahahahaha, Toyota in a junkyard... Good one. There are about 5 junkyards put here and I've been to every one. 3 corollas. That's it. And they were wrecked.

I have the Procomp 3000's, they are alright. Rode pretty nice until the rig started getting heavy, they're a bit too soft now.

Price is right though.

Shocks will not change your ride height. That's the job of springs.

If you want probably the best combination, OME medium rate springs and Nitrocharger shocks are a very good bet. You will spend some money on them, but if you're loading your truck, they give a very good balance of load and ride comfort.

Procomp and RoughCountry are the WalMart of offroading, and sell the "Craftsman" of shocks... i.e they're generic and made by somebody else and have their name put on it.

Bilstien to my knowledge actually puts a shock on a vehicle and tests it before they put it out.

Bilstiens are OEM on Z71's and Lexus Lx450's...

Bilstien and Old Man Emu... Or "OME", are the best you can get.

I put stock replacement KYB twin tubes on all 4 corners of mine and heavier duty coils in the rear last fall for I think $250ish total (could have been a little more). It rides great. I haven't driven it that much since tho', so I can't speak for longevity.

I Love my Bilstiens 5150's but you want model # 5125's look for 255/70 valving with 0"-2" inch lift length, you can't go wrong with these but you can't get away from paying for them either.

WABFAB (Brian) has a great selection/access to them and is a stand up guy to deal with plus he is a mod here so you know you are not going to get ripped off there

i mean granted you get what you pay for but do i really need the high end stuff? Will these suffice for a semi part time offroader? do most of my offroading on my atv. and the 4runner i love that its a serious tool if i need it. and i have to travel outside of miami fla to offroad. so i fugured something like these must be better than busted shocks on a daily driver. im thinking this could be a good sticky for newbies or anyone to be able to see what people are currently running on their trucks to make a knowledgeable purchase.

If these are not good enough then jump to the 3000 for $139 they are fine for what you say your going to be doing and you get 4 shocks and the steering stabilizer for that price

Ok guys i pulled the trigger on the procomp es9000's $146.90 shipped. he told me the skyjacker 9000's and these are made by the same company. once i mount them ill let you know how it rides compared to the old stuff.

Update!!! ok i installed the shocks. what a difference! now cornering is flat and controlled wow handles like my old slammed mazda protege . bumps are stout but nice. i like it it feels like a truck not a 20 year old caddy. im happy. my only gripe was when installing the front two i had to fight compressing them and alighning the hole to put the bolt in in time before the shock extended all the way. i got one hell of a workout..
