Best grounding spot in engine bay when jumping gen 3 4runner

Where do you like to ground out your negative jumper when jumping off a gen 3 runner?

The negative terminal won't kill you and cause the mattress police to come looking for you... And a ground's a ground...
Otherwise, look for something with some meat on it, like you'd use as a ground.

Just look for aluminum or rubber behind it as it won't be as good...

I just don't want to fry something or blow up the battery...Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria.

Yeah, negative terminal on the battery. I never really understood why or who first told me years ago to put it somewhere else, but I never could figure out why? The neg terminal attaches directly to the block on every vehicle I have worked on. I have jumped hundreds of cars this way for years and have never had a problem.

The grounding of the jumper cable to other then the negative battery terminal is a hold over from the old days.

To prevent an arc which could ignite the hydrogen gases vented by the battery in the days batteries had vents and removeable caps
