Air Control Valve- Power steering pump

I have a 1987 toyota 4 runner. Power steering pump was leaking and so I replaced it.

However, the air control valve on the top will not thread all the way down and it will also wiggle back and forth, as if it will not seal completely.

I notice pictures I had taken before of the power steering pump and upon looking at them, I found that in fact the valve was not threaded all the way on initially.

This does not solve why it wiggles though.

What could be the problem?

Thanks in advance

Look at the threads it screws into the threads could be Fubared

Could be a different thread from a different application ?

Maybe the Air Control valve broke off when it was taken from service.

Could be anyone of those or completely something else.

it dosnt thread all the way because it is a "pipe thread" it gets tighter the more you tighten it . sounds like it has been over tightened .. I would replace it

Yeah, I wrapped the thread in teflon tape. It worked really well and it is much more stable, although I probably should replace it as a whole.
