95 4runner 3VZE DTCs?
Okay, I looked and looked in this forum and also the Service Manual I downloaded from the links here but I could not find the reference to what the DTC off the CEL means. I found the one for the Transmission, but not the Engine codes.
Anyways, 95 4Runner 4X4 Automatic... Idles way low and rough and also "slips" in Drive, 2, L, and Reverse. It gets better as it warms up but it's still crappy. Speedo doesn't work, and coolant temp gauge is intermittent on the side of not working.
This is what I do know (or at least have figured out to some degree)... the coolant temp sensor and speed sense go through the combo meter (aka, gauge cluster) and out to the ECM to control the engine and transmission. I pulled the transmission DTC of 42, (#1 speed sense in combo meter, no surprise). The CEL flashed me a 42 and a 14 (if I read it correctly). I'd just like to know what those engine codes mean.
From what I can gather from reading the OEM shop manual is that all the sensors and such need to be working properly for the engine AND tranny to work reasonably well (as much as one can expect from the 3.0).
I can handle any kind of work that needs to be done on the 4Runner (yes, even electrical.. had to re-engineer the wife's BMW tail lights to work) short of a major engine rebuild. I just need to know what direction I should be going in.
Thanks in advance for any info!
Ron
