93, 94 swap

i have a 94 pickup with a 4cyl 22-RE, and everything in it needs replaces, motor, tranny, axles, suspension, everything, i lucked out and found a 93 pickup with a v6 in it and everything else i need, i figure im either going to just put my 94 body on the 93 frame, but im not sure how to go about swaping the computers and im not sure if the wiring will math up or not. or take the v6, tranny, and everything else off the 93 and swap it into the 94, im just not sure which way would be the easiest. any comments would help.

also on my 94 i have a 4 inch suspension lift, and a 2 inch body, if i swap the bodies, the body lift will be easy, and the rear suspension would be easy to take the shackles off, but im not sure how the front is lifted.

Youll need to redue the wiring harness to match. They should have the same plugs to mate engine to body harness but the pinouts would most likely be different. You could get the EWD's and compare the two plugs and then just move them to match each other. Its gonna take some work. Also motor mounts between 4 and 6cyl's are different so fab work for that is also in order. I think the body swap would be an easier way to go if your not into fab and wiring

yeah i figured the body swap would be an easier route, but then that leaves me with trying to take the suspension lift off the 94 frame and putting it on the 93, the rear is common sense, but the front im not too sure about, i havnt even looked at it yet, lol

Its a few brakets that make the lift for the front. Youll need a good set of tools and some patience to take it apart but its really not to hard.

Hard for me may be different to you so i cant really say its easy but take your time and study both setups and im sure you could figure it out. Once you swap that take it to an alignement shop and you should be good

sorry for asking but, how on earth do you know that all of that stuff needs to be replaced?

you say that the supsension on the 94 4cyl need to be replaced, but you are talking about putting it on your 93 V6?

personally I would just keep the 94, if you really do need new axles and differentials, swap them with the V6, then sell the V6 truck and put the money into rebuilding the 4cyl engine and tranny,

then you'll have a 4cyl (better engine all around) with a V6 rear end (stronger) and a rebuilt engine/tranny, and from what you've written it sounds like the 4 CYL has the better body

If you are really stuck on having a V6 (I have no idea why you would want that) then do the body swap and rebuild the V6 while your at it

If both trucks at least run and drive, why don't you just sell them both and go buy what you want, instead of trying to play Dr. Frankenstein,

when you start swapping bodies and engines around it will also kill your resale value if you care about that, and you will have to deal with the legalities of all that too

the suspension in the 94 is alright, its just the differentials, and the front axle in the 94 is all around ed up and the 4 wheel drive is gone, the body of the 93 is totaled but everything else is mint, the v6 is what im pulling for mostly because i have a 20 ft speedboat i have to pull during summers, and the 4 cyl struggles. and the 4cyl in the 94 blew. so since i dont know a whole lot about vehicles, im not going to try to rebuild everything, i just want my pride and joy back, so i figured i get the v6 i want, 4 wheel drive fixed and still get to keep my 94.

also, how do i go about taking out the steering wheel and steering column?

I guess if that's the case then I would just go with a body swap, I've never done one, but in theory it doesn't sound that hard, just time consuming, and you'll need a bunch of help or another way of lifting the heavy stuff,

as for the steering column, look here:
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/

should point you in the right direction

and about transferring the lift over, shouldn't be too hard, just removing and reinstalling on the V6 truck, you do have to do some cutting, same stuff that's required when installing a new ifs lift,

now getting the other truck back to stock after you pull the lift off, that's another story, but if it's going to be junk after your done then who cares
