93 3vze 4X4 SR5 Low Idle For 30 seconds
Hi Everyone,
I have been reading this forum like mad as I'm trying to fix my new (to me) truck. Thanks to everyone that posts great info.
Im an idiot and bought this truck in CA with it not being smogged, ignorantly I thought It would be ok, but it failed smog! extremely hi NO.
I gave the truck an oil change, new plugs(NGK vpower) wires, and distributor cap.
The truck was throwing a code for the TPS sensor. I replaced this, adjusted etc and the light would not stay off, in fact it would go on and off during driving. I traced this to a loose connector on the ECM
So no light comes on anymore.
My failed smog seemd to indicate the EGR valve. I took off the egr valve and cleaned, not really any buildup and the actual valve looks new.
Now the Vacuum modulator had a pretty dirty filter, had been saturated with muddy water so I cleaned that out.
(Truck had the engine compartment hit with muddy water pretty bad before I bought, everything looks like it got wet at some point)
I set timing at 10
truck is running pretty great overall now but I have this one last issue before I go back for smog test.
The Idle will be at 500 rpm for about 30 seconds when I come to a stop. After 30 seconds the idle slowly creeps up and levels off at about 800 and it seems normal.
My Idle screw on the throttle body looks like its been sealed up with silicone?
Does anyone have any advice, Im sick to my stomach over this smog deal...I cant get my pink slip till its smogged.
Thank you!
