90 4Runner ck engine Light
Just took the old dog in to get the valves adjusted and for the tech to ck the reason why the ck engine light is on. The codes read EGR and Knock sensor.
He had a new knock sensor, installed it, reset the computer after the valve adjust. EGR went away but the knock sensor code still comes up and the light is still on? He ckd the wiring and all is ok so now he is thinking faulty computer??
Any ideas from the Guru's here? Otherwise runs ok. He advanced the timing just a bit so, not undrivable at all.
Thanks for any help/advice

Have another problem now, more often than not, if you hold the throttle at 1500 rpm, it will surge to 1800 rpm then back to 1500 rpm and continue to oscillate!! Does not do it above or below this. Sounds/feels like it has gas to 1800rpm then cuts out till hits 1500rpm over and over?
Anyone else with this? I'm thinking computer?

Run some seafoam through the system before doing anything else. I'm not sure if adding it to your gas or adding it through the pcv would yield better results. If it was me, I'd run like a third of the can through the pcv, let it sit for 15 min, pour the rest in the tank, then run it til the smoke stops.

Did the Seafoam this afternoon. Runner idles even better now. Smoke was outrageous!! I'm sure the neighbors must of thought the house was on fire for a few minutes! Runs fine except for the darn ck engine light(knock sensor) and the surging at the mentioned RPM's. Anything below or above, engine runs great. Has me leaning towards the computer from reading other posts?
