My 89 4-Runner (203K) 4-cyl, 5-sp transmission is making noise in all gears except 4th. I understand that is common for high mileage trucks. Can I extend the life of the transmission by staying on 4th. Most of my driving is at 60 mph.

My brake pedal needs to be depressed a second time to build up pressure. The mechanic that fixed the brakes said he had bled the brakes but can not get the pedal back to normal. Any suggestions. Thanks.
