87 toyota pickup 22r carburated exhaust somke when its cold but not after it warms

it is likely the valve stem seals have gone bad, allowing oil to seep into the cylinder while the truck sits, then when you start it up the oil burns off and smokes. Cheap and easy fix, but I never did it on a toyota. On most older engines you take off the valve cover, rocker arm shaft, either move each cylinder to TDC or keep the valve in place by pushing compressed air into the spark plug hole, then take a spring compressor, compress the spring, remove the keeper clips (and dont looose em), then remove the clip or retain spring, replace the seal.
Reassemble is opposite of removal.

Your haynes or chilton's book, or factory service manual can tell you much better than I can. I remember seeing a link to download a factory service manual somewhere on this forum.
