87 4runner help

Okay right now, im running 35 x 12.50 BFG m/t on a 4 inch lift. Stock 410 gears, and im wondering if i should go down to 33's. WHat do you guys think? Ive been deciding for awhile, and also what kind of tires should i get? are these decent http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/pts/1837968303.htm

My brother told me that goodyear MTR's were rated the best for muddin but im not sure. i heard those Firestone Destination M/T are really good. THanks

It depends on what you want, do you want to keep the larger tires ?, if so then regear, you can go with 4.88`s or most would say go with 5.29`s. I have 37x12.50/15 MTR`s tires on my 86 4Runner with 4.88 gears and it works good for me. If you go with the 33`s you should still regear but it won`t be as with the 35`s.

You might gain a little more power and a little bit more flex with the smaller tires, but it will be so small that you probably won`t even notice it.

If you regear to 4.88's, you can do it cheaper then 5.29's. You can find 4.88's in a junkyard and swap em out.

We did a set for a member up here, found the gears for $350, drove down and got em, and installed them that night. I did my 4.56's for $250.

The link is dead, but I assume those 33's aren't cheap.

If you still drive alot of highway, 4.88's and 35's will do just fine for you.

Call around on craigslist for people parting automatic, mid 90's 4Runners, code G144 is what you want. Now this isn't the only place to find them, but its the easiest.

And if you are in Portland, Or. you guys always have tons of Toyota parts on Craigslist.

If you're having problems with power, regear or get smaller tires. If you're not having any problems, keep on truckin.

Btw, I stopped at a Junkyard in Olympia today. They have a set of 4.88's, said he wanted $500 for the set of front and rear 3rds.
