85 4runner map light

So dome light works, rear cargo lights work, map light does not work ( On rear view mirror)...

I am not sure what else runs on the circuit for the map light. Seat belt buzzer works, clock works. The stereo has been taken out when I got the vehicle. Is the map light dependent on the stereo being in, and connected, to work?

All fuses are good, so can someone help me figure out which fuse the Map Light on rear view mirror is on and what else is on that circuit please?

I have looked at wiring diagrams till I am blue in the face and just don't see the Map light anywhere.

Is it possible that mirror and lights was installed by one of the last owners and the wiring not hooked up??

Has it ever worked??

Bulbs burned out??

It is powered through the dome light fuse it grounds through the door switches this is out of the 86 EWD yours could be different .

Hmmm maybe not hooked up doubt it but hey why not I'll check. I cant read the wiring diagram that well and just cant find that light. I see the dome light on the wiring diagram just not the map light. Of course I go cross-eyed after about 2 minutes looking at that diagram. I need 3x glasses to see it.

Did not work since I got it. Nah the bulb is good got new one's and tried it, original one was toast, but I am enjoying the LED bulbs in the dome and cargo sockets..

Well son of a bitch there is no wire running to it! Hopefully I can find the wire in there. Anyone know if it runs up the passenger pillar?

It is possible that was not an option on your truck and was added later .

Just what Schematics are you looking at??

Worse case you can power it from the dome light and find a good ground.

First thanks for the interest and help!

I was thinking the same thing about it being added later but on chapter/page 6-59 FIG.159 85 Pickup and 4runner Chilton's 1970-88 Repair Manual - I think I found it. From the dome light it has it going to the "Inspection Light Socket" which I would then think it is stock.

Maybe I can fish around for it with a coat hanger or something but would be nice to know where it is coming from.
