82 transmission

i want to know what transmission does this truck have i know is a 4 speed and what woud be the best trans for offroading thanks

It would have an L45

and a R151(Lots of $ and ard to find) are the strongest, but a W56 will be #2

i have another question i saw an add on craglist that said that a regular trans out of a 83 pickup could be used as a 4x4 trany by using tranfer case it that true cause i have a 5 speed trany from a 2 weel drive 83 toyota

L52 5spd from a 1st gen would be your best bet, no x-member mods, complete bolt in.

W56 5spd would be better, but requires your to flip the stock x-member, and use u-bolts over the frame...no biggy, just more mods.
