'76 Chinook - what kind of batteries?

I have a '76 Chinook that uses two batteries, but they're both missing. I don't know what kind to get. RV and Toyota dealerships don't have info going back that far. Anybody know what types to get, basic motor battery and auxiliary?

The battery on the passenger side is for your engine.the battery on driver side is for the RV. You should be able togo to any Auto parts store and tell them you need battery for 1976 toyota pickup (hilux). they should have info in computer for exact size.that will be on passenger side. the other battery you want would be deep cycle (RV) (Boat) battery. To fit in the space. You will have to give them the measures to fit space.and if the battery connections are post,or side mount.

'76 Chinook batteries

Thanks, I've gone to RV stores, Toyota (US), the local Toyota dealership, Auto Zone and other parts stores, Costco, battery stores, and no one has been able to tell me, which is incredible, when you think about it. I thought for sure the national Toyota site would be able to give me that info, but no. The others' battery books simply don't go back that far, not even at the dealership. I guess we've just dropped off the radar.

This does have a duel battery isolater??

Thing is not doing just what may have been done to the electrical system.

Measure the area of the battery boxes allowing for the height as well get the biggest battery that will fit in with the highest cold cranking amps.

That is what I would do myself.

Not sure where you are located.but when i need a battery i go straight to Interstate battery distribution warehouse. and purchase.cut out the middle man. i tell them for what vehicle. they look it up. Also I just went on Auto zones web site and punched 76 toyota pickup (hilux) and it list a few batterys.don't tell them its a Chinook. They won't have a clue.Which most of them don't anyhow. Once you get the battery to run the truck.drive there and have them figure out the house battery. point to the spot under the hood.and get the biggest Cold cranking Amp Battery for that space.
