kinda hard to understand, but i think i've got it.

drain all fluids.

remove all linkages, speedo cable, shift sticks, 4x4 light switch, reverse light switch, clutch/transmission cooler lines etc.

support the transmission and transfercase good

remove the 8 crossmember bolts from the crossmember under the transfercase

unbolt the transmission from the engine, then drop it down.

seperate the transfercase from the transmission, its like 12 bolts or something. check out my build thread, i have a decent write up on there.

then you'll have access to the hole. when you weld it, its alluminum i beleive, so i'd prefer tig welding. of course, when you pull it, theres some stuff i forgot, so you'll have to look into it, but i think i got down the basics

Just how did you lock up the transfercase??

Punched a hole a hole in the Transmission? To weld this your gonna have to clean and cook several times cost wise you would be better to get a used piece to replace the busted one

I need to hear more.

To answer your question the only things you have are the shift rod and related parts when you pull the transfer case adapter off the back of the trans.

I would suggest down loading the FSM for the vehicle you have it gives all that information.
