4X4 manual hubs & ADD sys.

I am having an issue with my hubs if in 4x4 high & low and my hubs locked, I have this random grinding/clunking noise which lasts a few seconds then dissapears. if I leave the hubs locked and drive around in 2wd, it does the same random noise. I have pulled apart the drivers side, and noticed some slop between the spindle shaft (part of the CV) and the spindle carrier, it turns out Toyota calls them steering knuckle bushings. I plan to replace them (both in and outer) but I would like to know whether this could be the most likely culprit, or if anyone knows the specification on the wear tolerences for these bushings?
any help is appeciated thanks.

You got the right part, but the wrong diagnosis.

You just need to grease the bushings. you can either pull the CV or there's a writeup on how to make a device to lube them up without having to.

ok, well the parts are on order...I caved, from what I had taken apart yesterday...it seemed as though the driver's side has more play in it vs the passenger's side, so thanks anyways, I am planning on building a grease packer myself, but the write up was helpful, thanks alot
