4WD/ possible T-case problems?
Sup guys I just bought me a 94 Hilux Surf (4runner) diesel.
This is my first 4WD and I was wondering something. Is the 4WD shifter supposed to be in neutral when 4WD is off? It is isnt it?
Cause my runner wont move if the 4WD lever is in neutral. At first I thought maybe the rear driveshaft was missing. But its there.
I didnt get to test drive it before I bought it. They dont let you do that here in Japan, its weird.
Was my runner screwed before I bought it?

No - you want it in "2HI" - the forwardmost position. "Neutral" is a TRUE neutral used mostly for being towed - both driveshafts are completely free.
4HI engages the front axle at the normal gear ratio.
4LO engages the low range gearing in addition to the front axle.
