95 4runner. 4wd not working while engaged. light on dash does not come on either. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

 

What kind of motor/ transmission? It's hard to help without some details. I'd start by checking the front differential. There's a vacuum operated fork inside that connects everything up. Make sure the vacuum lines going to it are intact and that there aren't any holes.

 

1995 4runner, V6 4x4, 5 Speed manual. Sorry about that.

 

auto 4wd? if so you might have a vacuum line that became disconnected. happened to a friends 89 PU. fixed the vacuum line and problem solved.
