i was looking into getting the toytec 2 inch lift with front ball joint spacers and new rear coils so would that be a good begining lift for a stock truck will other mods need to be made??

That there would be a good lift i have the same thing on mine except with a rear add-a-leaf since i have leaf springs in the back not coils cause mine is an 86

 

so from what i understand longer shocks are "recommended" but not really required

 

Spoons are recommended for eating soup but not necessarily required.

I put on the ToyTec 1.5in BJ spacers, the longer coil springs on the back with the extended shocks and the 2.5in Panhard Drop bracket and it works just great. The only mod that had to be done was where the BJ spacers fit into, a little piece of metal had to be cut out on both sides in order for them to fit correctly (this is also mentioned in the instructions from ToyTec) and for mine, we put in a 2in spacer on the rear where your brake line bolts to the axle.
