I have a 1995 4Runner v6. The engine was bad and I found an engine from a 1989 that is supposed to have good compression. I am at the stage of replacing the timing belt and have a couple of questions.
1) Can I use the new timing belt for the 1995 with the tensioner from the 1995?
2) The timing gear on the 1989 does not have a dot mark on it to align the belt. Should I just align the other mark on the belt with the #1 cover?
Any advice on this project will be greatly appreciated.
