4Runner add-a-leafs.

I have a '86 4runner and i'm considering installing some Pro-Comp (AAL's) add-a-leaf to the back because it is sagging with the original springs. My question is: will i be able to complete the install and still be able to utilise the factory U-bolts?? Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Well that depends. First, measure the length of thread extending past the nuts on your stock u-bolts and if that is less than maybe 1/2" - 3/8" (thickness of the AAL) then they will be too short. Then also assess the condition of the threads on the end of the u-bolts as to whether you think they will come off w/o damage. If the threads are damaged or the ends have been bent from dragging over rocks, then they will likely need to be cut off. But that said, I was able to re-use the stock u-bolts on my '85 when I installed lift springs w/o problems. The other gotcha is the center pin, it may or may not be long enough:

Thanks! I will now grab the tape measure! Yeah, it seems as though all stock 4runners sag a little bit in the back and mine does a lot! i got mine a few years ago with 400,000 miles on it!!! but its all highway miles.. It's never seen the dirt.
