4cyl gears in a V6 diff?
I have heard a lot of stuff about this, but dont know anything spacific. apparently there is not that much difference between 4cyl and v6 gears. I was wondering what kind of trouble it would be to put a set of 4cyl gears in a v6 diff? and how reliable they would be compared to the standard v6 gears?

As I understand it, the ring and pinion gears are the same for 4cyl/v6 and 7.5"/8" ring gear. The difference comes from the amount of spider gears in the center section. 4cyl and some v6 have two spiders and most v6 have 4 spider gears. Thats where the beef comes from. I may be wrong, historically thats been the case.

the v6 pinion is a lil taller than the 4cyl.. but there is minimal to no strength difference.
the bearings are bigger in the v6 rear also!
here is a link on how to do it, http://gearinstalls.com/cus.htm

IIRC the third members bolt in interchangeably.. However the difference between the 4/6 cyl is noticeable on the dirveshaft end of the pinion gear.. The flanges on the dirveshaft are different.. so an install requires drilling new holes for the driveshaft..
