Is 4" to much lift

Is 4" to much lift to be using off roading? I keep reading that lift is for the mall parking lot and lockers and gears are for the trails. My main concern is to be too top heavy

Depends on the lift and what you plan to do with it. We need a little more info here. What type of off roading do you do?

its up to you what you want to do, 4 inch lift gets you the right to put bigger tires on it witch = more ground clearence. but if you get lockers you wont have to worry about doing one tire fire =) or if you get both you will have one bad ass rig =)

Then do you even need a lift?

Spend that money on some armor.

my 95 yota is lifted 4in- 2in body 2in susp, 35s. i think its the perfect stance. i kno i kno do you need this lift yada yada. but i think most of us can admit, we lifted our truck/runner for looks and function. cuz admit, a lifted yota looks dern skippy, i lifted mine fro looks in the beginning.

the only reason i was thinking about a lift is beacuse the last time i went off roading i hit my frame on a bolder once the front wheel went over it.
I was one click away fron buying this http://store.fatbobsgarage.com/toyot...995-p5682.aspx when i found a 4" pro comp kit for $200

Whoever said lifts are for the mall is misinformed. HUGE lifts are for the mall, but a nice 4" lift will have plenty of benefits for offroad use. Better clearance, approach, departure angles etc. You won't bottom out on the frame rails as easily. Room for bigger tires etc.

I try and tell people that.. some listen and and are happy, some laugh and are miserable with themselves.. LMAO but the reality of it is, what you can afford and fab/do by yourself and not have to pay someone to do because thats usually half the cost. Have fun with your build and put some pics up

full belly skid plate would be good for these kinda problems. And maybe an IFS trus.

xxx is right that will save alot of tearin stuff up on the underside of your ride. That would be one of those easy starter things to do on your own that you cant mess up if you up to the challange. just dont weld up the wrong thing and measure twice cut once or youll waste alot of material

This is a good thread as i was also considering a 4" Rough Country lift. Maybe i'll just invest in some armor first...

pro comp is cheap for a reason. i had a pro comp lift on my runner, it had no flex, it was all MALL. i recommend spending your money on a nice set of tires, trim some fender and build some armor.
